Stinky Sandals Syndrome!?

Question: I'm in a "funk" over what to do about an embarrassing problem: I consider myself to be a fairly hygienic individual. Yet for some reason, whenever I wear sandals, they will eventually begin to smell after about a week or two of daily wear. I don't have foot fungus, and my feet don't normally stink when I wear regular shoes, just when I wear sandals. I know that it's because I don't wear socks with my sandals (who, besides my grandpa, would wear socks with sandals??). So my question isn't "why" my feet smell when I wear sandals, but how do I get rid of the odor which seems to be imbedded into the sandals? I've tried washing them with soap and water, scrubbing them with toothpaste, baking soda, and an assortment of stinky-shoe products, but to no avail. I've even had to throw them out more than once. I live in a warm beach climate and sandals are a way of life around here. What can I do that I haven't already tried. Any suggestions? By the way, at least it's a comfort to know I'm not the only one with this problem...

Answer: I guess alot of ppl have that problem. I also have a couple pair of shoes that smell so bad when I wear them. Even after I wash my feet after taking them off, they still smell!! I hate it! Especially when I wear them @ the stores and want to try some shoes on. It is embarassing! I tried to clean my sandals with a toothbrush and detergent. But it didn't work. I don't want to throw them out, they are so cute. I guess there is nothing we can do about it!!
